Glorious day in Kalbarri, WA

Had the best day in Kalbarri. By far the best day so far. Attended the feeding of the pelicans at 8:45am opposite Murchison River Caravan Park. The girls loved it. Then the girls ran down to the beachfront where they ventured further and further until it was a nudie swim. Then we set off for the Rainbow Jungle Bird Park which had some beautiful birds, waterfalls, a tower overlooking kalbarri coastline and even an outdoor cinema. Murchison Caravan Park is a down to earth tourist park with character, nothing flash but it is in the most perfect spot opposite the beach with sunsets to die for! Plus the reception is warm and they are happy to give you information about what to see and do around town. This is certainly a place to visit. Off to carnarvon tommorrow.

Monday sunset in kalbarri

Hubby captured a beautiful sunset on our first night in kalbarri. Love it here!

Bougainvillea beautiful

I love Bougainvillea flowers and to my delight Murchison Caravan Park had some well established trees. The perfect backdrop for my little angels.

Arrived in beautiful kalbarri

Arrived in Kalbarri. Still as beautiful as I remember it. There is some nice homes that have been built here along with new estates since the 15 years since I was here last visit. Has a bit of a Dunsborough feel to it. Staying at The Murchison Caravan Park and got a spot right near the playground, awesome work mummy. We can finally sit and relax. The kids are soaking up nature.

Geraldton to Kalbarri

We have just spent the last two days in geraldton. To be frank the first day was raining and the second day was spent catching up on washing. Doesn't make for good reading i know but that is the reality. The girls had a nudie swim in the pool yesterday arvo. Everyone was asking if the pool was heated, nope it's not, just crazy kids! Girls made some new friends Lily & Emma. Emma turned out to be a budding artist & came by the caravan to sell her artwork. I brought two at $1 each. Should of seen her face light up! Got to encourage entreupenurial kids. She said next she will be selling cupcakes, damn i missed that. Oh well off to Kalbarri today, I have fond childhood memories from there. Hopefully can create new memories with my kids. Gooday all x

Jurien bay Tourist Park

Stayed one night at Jurien Bay Tourist Park. If the weather wasn't so stormy I would of loved to stay longer. It's only a small park with mixture of cabins & caravan sites. I could of easy stayed here longer as we parked right in front of the bouncing pillow. There was also a cafe right there near reception. It's situated a short stroll from the beach which has a playground for the kids. The jetty you could do some fishing on and im told if u go under the jetty and throw some bread in that the waters bubble up with a frenzy of puffer fish. So, we are heading off to Geraldton this morning. Hopefully the sun is waiting for us, im over this shitty weather.

Top Tourist Parks

On day one of our travels today & we decided to wing it as with the two kids we werent sure how far we could travel comfortably as well as still being enjoyable for the kids. We knew we were going North but had made no bookings or enquiries. It's blowing a gale, raining hard, so hard we had to slow right down to see out the window. We stopped at cervantes for lunch then were toying up whether to go to Halfway Mill Roadhouse or Sandy Cape Recreational Park which has no power, no showers & a long drop toilet! Interesting! You see we were refering to the Camps7 book which you would think would list all the caravan parks in each area, hmmm, it would appear not. We are driving along and I see this lovely little caravan park right on the beach & opposite the shops. It's called Jurien Bay Tourist Park, I wing it and go in and they have a spot for us. It appears it's not in my book, it is part of the Top Tourist Parks, I join for $30 it lasts 2 years, I get 10% off my bill and 10% off any Top Tourist park within Australia along with a handy booklet listing all the parks under that banner. A great tip. We are learning all the time. It would be a beautiful spot except it's so stormy we are couped up in the van.

One down one to go

30 minutes into our journey & we have one child down & into the land of snooze, now to get the older child to stop talking and go to sleep and it will be a peaceful journey. Think we will go to Geraldton today!

Party with family

Had a early birthday party with the girls grandparents before we depart tommorrow on our caravanning adventure. My mother in law is a fantastic cook and as per usual didnt disappoint with a banquet laid out for us including cake for the girls to do the blow out the candles. Girls played ball with poppy before we said our goodbyes.

Last day at work

Had my last day at work yesterday! It's really happening now, we are really going. Too late to turn back now. It's exciting but it's a bit scary too. Like anything new once you gather the evidence that you can do it the fear goes away by itself. Akira had her last day at kindy too. Both of us had our respective farewells and felt loved by all. My work got me a pass at the wildlife park in Darwin which was very thoughtful. I will miss the friendships i made there & intend to keep in touch. One thing i wont miss is the commute being bus, train, cat bus. Where will we end up now? What work will we do along the way.

A day with my eldest girl. One on one its special

Had a lovely day with my eldest Akira at the shops. We dont usually get one on one time and it was really lovely. Here is a photo of my beautiful girl with the new headband she chose. I love how she has her own fashion sense. Hey just cos you live in a caravan park doesnt mean you need to wear ugg boots and tracksuits. I brought the girls a Barbie sleeping bag each as its cold in the caravan at night and i cant sleep well with the heater on. Bring on tonight we are going to be toasty warm.

Compromise

Caravanning on a budget is all about compromise, creativity & imagination. Ahliyah it seems does not like showers so we went and found a big plastic bucket from Bunnings and voila we have a makeshift bath in the caravan.

Had a great day at Karrinyup Waters Resort

What a lovely day today at our first caravan park 'Karrinyup Waters'. Kids seem to be settling down for the first time since we moved from house to caravan. Think they've realised, hey this fun isn't going away it's still here when we wake up everyday. Girls had a lovely playday with our fellow caravanning friend called Bella a 2.5 year old from NZ. Her dad fly's in fly's out from Kalgoorlie whilst mum n bub remain in the park. You only get 89 days here before you have to move on. They go away for a week then return for another Stint. The kids ended up having a food coloured bath in a plastic tub, amazing the cheap things that keep kids entertained. Finished by popping open the bottle of Moet Chandon that the lovely Kate Hardingham from Realmark Realty brought us. Love to you all xox

A welcome gift

Thanks Kate for the yummy Moet Champagne. Recommend Brad & Kate Hardingham from Realmark Realty if your selling up.

Our view

Our view out to the lake at karrinyup waters resort.

Our Caravan & annex

Here is a picture of our new home well not new its 25 years old but its our new way of life.

A day in the caravan

Its raining today so the kids are watching a movie, The Incredibles & im sitting down & relaxing. Makes a nice change.

Getting there

Slowly getting there with sorting out our caravan. Going from living in a house to selling everything & moving your last remnants into a tin can isnt quite so easy as it may seem. There isnt much to clean in a caravan & it can be done quickly but with two small kids you have to clean constantly otherwise the mess is in your face & cant be avoided. Give it a few weeks, i reckon we should be pretty sorted by then, fingers crossed x

It may be raining but when the tough gets going we put on our tiara's

Rainy Tuesday

Well it's a rainy Tuesday. Went to work today, it was damn freezing. Came back to the caravan park, hubby convinces me to go and have a shower while he and the kids remain in the heated cosy caravan.  Not one but two shower cubicles pour down cold water on me, third cubicle is lucky last and has warm water, bliss!  So I gather my belongings to head back to the caravan only to get caught in a massive down pouring of rain, man someone doesn't like me today! I actually start laughing to myself.  How did I get so lucky I think to myself, laughs!  Get back to the caravan and hubby is attempting to sweep the water that has seeped into the floor of the annex only to have the roof cave in and the rain that was pooling on the roof to splash down, I grab a pole and he wedges the roof back up in the middle, turns out we do need that pole in the middle.  So that is another indicator that we need to follow the sun up North.  Caravanning and rain don't mix well, for me anyways.  Those poor sods in the tents, man that must be a challenge in this cold weather.  What do I have to complain about.
